Maryville is a beautiful, medium-sized city located 18 miles south of Knoxville, Tennessee. It is positioned between the Tennessee River and the North Carolina state border. According to the United States Census Bureau, Maryville was populated by approximately 28,703 people in 2016. It is the largest city in and serves as the county seat of Blount County.
The history of Maryville can be traced to the late 1700s when a fort was built to protect settlers from attacks by local Native Americans. Ten years after the construction of the fort, the City of Maryville was established by an act of the General Assembly of the Territory South of the Ohio River. The Knoxville and Charleston Railroad laid its tracks through Maryville less than one-hundred years later. In 1916, the first water system was constructed and one year later a sanitary sewer system was completed.

Maryville is located in a region of Tennessee that experiences warm, humid weather conditions during the summer seasons. Average daytime temperature highs range from the mid to upper-80s during the months of June, July, and August. Precipitation is common during the aforementioned months in addition to warm temperatures.
